Air Max 2018 . -- J.T. Barrett escaped
Wisconsins pressure and shook off a mistake.Ohio States do-it-all quarterback
proved his mettle after halftime in the toughest of road environments,
accounting for three touchdowns and setting a school record in the
process.Barrett threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to leaping receiver Noah Brown in
overtime, and the second-ranked Buckeyes finished off the eighth-ranked Badgers
with a sack on fourth-and-goal from the 4 for a 30-23 win on Saturday
night.Barrett also ran for two touchdowns for the Buckeyes (6-0, 3-0 Big Ten) in
a contest that had the intensity of a championship heavyweight bout. That was
just two good teams going at each other, Ohio State coach Urban Meyer said.He
had the best player on the field on his side. The touchdown throw in overtime
gave Barrett his 89th career touchdown passing or rushing, breaking the school
record previously held by quarterback Braxton Miller. The Buckeyes rushed the
field after defensive end Tyquan Lewis sacked quarterback Alex Hornibrook to end
the thriller. Just in time too, after school officials warned fans that severe
weather was rolling through the area right before the final play.Ohio State got
the ball first in overtime, with Barrett ending the possession with the pass to
Brown for the go-ahead score.Barrett finished 17 of 29 for 226 yards with one
interception, and ran for 92 yards on 21 carries. We grew up even more this week,
Barrett said.Corey Clement ran for 164 yards on 25 carries for Wisconsin (4-2,
1-2) and its revived rushing attack .The Badgers gained chunks of yards in the
first half on the Buckeyes vaunted defense, but often had to settle for field
goals. They led 16-6 at halftime. It took a little while for Ohio State to get
its bearings in the second half.We just had to keep on grinding. This Big Ten
football, Barrett said. But Barrett, as usual, led the charge. Wisconsins defense
often got to Barrett in the backfield and tried to contain him in the pocket,
only to watch him slip away with just enough time to hit big passes. You look at
those things ... how can we finish, coach Paul Chryst said. At the same time,
you say, `Hats off, hes a heck of a player.THE TAKEAWAYOhio State: Barrett shook
off his interception into the end zone during heavy rain early in the third
quarter. He hit long pinpoint passes, often on the move, into tight coverage.
The Buckeyes made it a point to work on the passing game leading into the game
after problems last week against Indiana. That work paid off, though it didnt
come easy against the Badgers tough defense.Wisconsin: Chryst dug deep into the
playbook to throw off the Buckeyes in the first half, running receiver Jazz
Peavy on jet sweeps and passing out of tight formations. The Badgers had
manageable third-down situations, for the most part, for Hornibrook. Wisconsin
picked up another first down in the fourth quarter after faking a run before
Hornibrook threw a shovel pass to tight end Troy Fumagalli for 4-yard gain. The
offensive-minded Chryst showed creativity that should keep Wisconsins opponents
guessing for the rest of the season. This one is tough ... because we didnt come
into this one hoping to keep it close, Chryst said. This one hurts tonight.POLL
IMPLICATIONSOhio State: The Buckeyes padded their playoff resume, but dont
figure to leapfrog top-ranked Alabama in the Top 25 poll on Sunday after the
Crimson Tides 39-point win over No. 9 Tennessee.Wisconsin: The Badgers are the
best 4-2 team in the nation with a losing record in their conference. Wisconsin
also lost two weeks ago to No. 4 Michigan, 14-7, at the Big House. They figure
to fall a few spots in the poll, but shouldnt be severely penalized given their
admirable performances against top competition.STAT LINESOhio State: Barrett
completed passes to eight different receivers. .... RBs Mike Weber and Curtis
Samuel each finished with 46 yards rushing.Wisconsin: Hornibrook, a freshman,
was 16 of 28 for 214 yards, with a touchdown and an interception. ... Peavy
finished with 70 yards on six carries, and 76 yards receiving on four catches,
including a 24-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter that gave Wisconsin a
10-0 lead. .... The Badgers outgained the Buckeyes 450-411.UP NEXT:Ohio State:
The Buckeyes play the second of two straight night games at a tough road venue
when they visit Penn State on Oct. 22.Wisconsin: There is no letup in the
schedule with a trip to Iowa up next. The tested Badgers are coming off a
stretch of having faced three straight top 10 opponents.---More AP college

successful as Syndergaard, finishing third in the fifth race at Monmouth Park in

million option on reliever Jose Veras. The Charlie Strong era with the Texas
Longhorns is over. One day after a 31-9 loss to TCU capped another disappointing
season in Austin, the Longhorns opted Saturday to fire Strong, who was 16-21 in
three years at the school.Decisions like this are tough to make. The
responsibility is not taken lightly, athletic director Mike Perrin said in a
statement announcing the firing. Coach Strong represented The University of
Texas with class and dignity, and he demanded our student-athletes do the same
by adhering to his system of core values. However, after thorough evaluation,
the body of work over three seasons has not shown the improvement we were hoping
for. This was an important year for our program to take the next step, and the
results simply arent there, so weve decided to make a change. We appreciate Coach
Strong so much, are grateful for all he has done with our program and wish him
the best in the future.Texas (5-7, 3-6 Big 12) again failed to clinch a bowl bid
in 2016, instead finishing with its third seven-loss season under Strong, who
was 12-15 in Big 12 play.?He is the first Texas coach with three consecutive
losing seasons in program history. In the end, the results over three seasons
were not there, university president Greg Fenves said in a statement. It was not
clear the future was going to be at the levels expected of Longhorn
football.Strong is owed a buyout of $10.7 million for the remaining two years on
his contract, a fee that would be reduced if he were to take another
job.Houstons Tom Herman was announced as Strongs replacement?Saturday.Strong
stressed that, despite their record, the Longhorns were well-positioned for
future success. The foundation has been laid here, Strong said. The thing is,
weve been building it for three years. Even when I looked at it, I said the
third year well make progress, the fourth year will be our year. Its just like
baking a cake. The cake has been baked. The only thing you need to do now is put
the icing on it and slice it. Thats what this team is. The cake has been baked.
Now its just ready to be sliced.Strong called the firing a very difficult day in
a statement Saturday.Im most disappointed for these kids and our staff who have
poured so much of their lives into this program for the last three years, he
said. I do understand that it comes down to wins and losses, and we have not
done our job in that area yet. I accept full responsibility for that but know in
my heart that we accomplished our primary goal, which is the development of
young men. ... There are very bright days ahead, and Ill be pulling for these
kids no matter where I am.Shortly after the decision to fire Strong was
announced, defensive lineman Charles Omenihu tweeted, I love you coach.Strongs
final season at Texas began with a 50-47 double-overtime victory against?Notre
Dame, which was a preseason top-10 team but entered Saturday 4-7. The win moved
the Longhorns from unranked to No. 11 in the Associated Press Top 25.But that
game would not prove to be a turning point for the program. After losses to Cal
and Oklahoma State, Strong demoted his longgtime defensive coordinator Vance
Bedford and put himself in charge of Texas struggling defense.
Soldes
Chaussures Nike. The Longhorns pulled off an upset victory
against?Baylor and had an opportunity, if they won out, to finish 8-4 and save
Strongs job. After close losses to West Virginia and a one-win Kansas team,
coupled with Fridays blowout loss to TCU, the Longhorns instead finished at
5-7.Some Texas boosters had been exerting extreme pressure on Texas leadership
to move on from Strong and pursue Herman, ESPNs Brett McMurphy reported last
weekend. Fenves and Perrin publicly offered their support for Strong during the
season, and Strong acknowledged last week that Fenves would take a long look at
the programs progress at the end of the season. But Texas first loss to Kansas
since 1938 sealed Strongs fate, sources told McMurphy last weekend, and he will
finish with the worst winning percentage of any head coach in school history.I
just felt like every year it turned into being all about me, and it should never
have been all about me, Strong said after Fridays season-ending loss. It should
have been about those guys being given an opportunity to enjoy the game. It
never happened for them. They felt it. Thats whats so disappointing is they felt
they had to defend me at every turn.Strong replaced longtime Texas coach Mack
Brown in January 2014, after successfully rebuilding Louisville, where he went
23-3 in his final two seasons.Strongs hiring was a social leap forward as he
became the first black football coach in school history, but his short tenure
was marked by turmoil, losing football and a divided fan base.Texas went 6-7 in
Strongs debut season and lost to Arkansas in the AdvoCare V100 Texas Bowl to end
a tumultuous year in which nine players were dismissed from the program and
starting quarterback David Ash suffered a career-ending concussion in his first
game.Strong had been coaching through hot-seat speculation ever since a 1-4
start to the 2015 season. He demoted offensive playcaller Shawn Watson after a
season-opening loss to Notre Dame and struggled through another up-and-down year
for a 5-7 finish despite upset wins against?Oklahoma and Baylor. After the
season, Strong hired Tulsas Sterlin Gilbert as his new offensive coordinator and
brought in four more new assistants. The Longhorns finally developed a
successful quarterback this year in true freshman Shane Buechele, who had 2,958
yards passing and 21 touchdowns. Running back?DOnta Foreman?leads the nation in
rushing and topped the 2,000-yard mark for the?season Friday.Despite that
offensive talent, Texas came up short in too many close games, with losses by
margins of 3, 3, 4, 5 and 7 points this season. Against Kansas, the Longhorns
gave away six turnovers and blew an 11-point fourth-quarter lead. With Fridays
loss to TCU, they were 1-18 when trailing at halftime during Strongs
tenure.Information from ESPN staff writer Max Olson and The Associated Press was

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Commissioner Rob Manfred is confident Major League Baseball
teams fully disclose medical records, but said his office has demonstrated that
it will use discipline as a way to discourage rules violations.

came less than a week after MLB suspended Padres general manager A.J. Preller
for 30 days without pay for his actions in the Drew Pomeranz trade to Boston. The
punishment given to the San Diego executive for failing to disclose medical
information was unprecedented in baseball.I think the penalty speaks for itself,
Manfred said, without getting into specifics about his reasoning for that
penalty. The commissioner said teams are sent annual guidelines in how medical
records are to be maintained.I think that our clubs in general fully disclose
medical records consistent with a long-standing practice in baseball, he said.
Im confident that our clubs adhere to those guidelines.Manfred appeared at an
athletic forum for SMU before joining Rangers and city of Arlington officials
for an update on the plans for a new entertainment complex and a new stadium for
the team.Among some other topics:- Asked about San Francisco 49ers quarterback
Colin Kaepernicks national anthem protest, Manfred said Kaepernick has the a
right to express his view.Look, I respect, and baseball has always respected,
peoples rights to express their views, Manfred said.- While not wanting to get
into getting into any specific issues that will be negotiated, Manfred said he
is optimistic about our ability to get a new collective bargaining agreement.
The current contract between owners and players will expire Dec. 2.Theres been a
lot of work done already. I think the pace of that work is going to pick up as
we get closer to the end of the season, he said. I think that people on both
sides of the table understand that the games doing well, and what should be most
important to both sides is making sure we keep the game on the field for our
fans.

out on a medal by the narrowest of margins in the 10m air rifle final, finishing
fourth in a tight shootout at the Olympic Shooting Centre with a score of
163.8.The gold medal went to Nicolo Campriani (206.1) of Italy, Ukraines Serhiy
Kulish bagged silver with a score of 204.6, while Vladimir Maslennikov of Russia
scored 184.2 to win bronze..This is the last time Bindra will be seen in a
shooting competition as he has announced his retirement after Rio and leaves the
sport as Indias most decorated shooter and premier Olympic sportsman. It was an
excruciatingly nerve-wracking final with the hall packed to capacity. Bindra
walked in slightly awkwardly and took his place on Lane C. The announcer at the
venue was quite vociferous but for Bindra and the rest of the shooters in the
field, it was almost as if he didnt exist. Bindra was steady but unspectacular
in his first series of six shots that included two scores of 9.7.Once the field
started to whittle down after the eighth shot, Bindra, the only previous gold
medalist in this event among the eight competitors suddenly found his mongrel.
He reeled off an impressive sequence of high tens as the arena started to throb
with expectation. Each shot was met by a vociferous cheers from the Indians in
the hall as even hardened journalists whove seen it all before started to
entangle themselves in the moment. Bindra, impassively as always, continued to
move up the field and was in medal contention as shooters started to drop off.
Four fell by the wayside, leaving only four.A 9.7 on his 15th shot and 10.2 on
his 16th tied Bindra with Serhiy Kulish of Ukraine. The now or never moment was
here, all that training all the toil all the effort down to one shot to be an
Olympic medalist, whats more Indias first medal at the Olympics. Bindra shot a
10, but his rival responded with a 10.5. The dream was over. Bindra walked back,
measured and collected as ever, though a collective gasp of despair engulfed the
arena. He would finish his career as an Olympic gold medalist but also as a man
who came so near yet so faar.
Air Max 97 Pas Cher En Ligne. An official
walking past this writer exclaimed We are having such bad luck, missing out by
such small margins. That in essence is the whole point of this brutal,
unforgiving sport. Fine margins between joy and agony. Bindra is only 33 but
walks into the sunset perhaps with a tinge of agony of what might have been in
Rio de Janeiro, where he arrived as a self-proclaimed hobby shooter and almost
clinched glory.Qualifying roundIn the qualifying round, Bindra had finished 7th
with a score of 625.7 to make it to his third Olympic final. Gagan Narangs
campaign ended with a score of 621.7 and a 23rd place finish. There were more
than a few frayed nerves at the shooting arena with a strong Indian contingent
made up mostly of journalists and officials swaying on a roller coaster ride.
Bindra was his usual self, serenity personified but by faltering in the fourth
and fifth series, he undid some of the good work from a solid start. When the
final series began, with Bindra out of the top 10, his teammate Narang had
already left himself with too high a mountain to climb so hopes rested entirely
on Bindra. The nervous faces of members of the shooting contingent told its own
story with the results so far having been well below expectations. Bindra
responded with a nerveless effort to score 105.2 and was to make the last eight
on what will be his last day of competitive shooting. Abhinav reached his first
final in Athens in 2004 as a 22 year old. He was to finish eighth in the Athens
final, but four years later created history by winning Gold at the Beijing
Olympics. As the final few shooters finished, many nails were being chewed with a
bit of churn towards the lower half of the leaderboard. Once confirmed the
Indian contingent broke into infectious applause. Italian shooter Niccolo
Campriani finished the qualification rounds with an Olympic record of
630.2.Narang will compete in two more events in Rio - the 50m rifle and the 50m
three-position. For Bindra, it was his final goodbye.

NEW YORK -- A former journalist turned college professor, Kelly Whiteside is
watching NBCs prime-time Olympics coverage this month for the first time in 16
years.
Air Max
Tavas Black . Shes surprised at what shes found -- not because the
programs have changed so much, but because they havent. Its almost like a time
capsule for me, said Whiteside, who covered several Olympics for USA Today.Much
of what NBC does at other times is markedly different from what she remembers;
the Olympics are spread around nearly a dozen different cable networks and every
competition is streamed live online. Yet NBCs prime-time, the Olympics point of
entry for the vast majority of viewers, has remained an island unto itself by
sticking to a time-honored formula.Prime-time ratings are down this year from
the record-setting London Games, and NBC says a big reason is because more
people are watching cable or their devices. But its worth posing the question:
Is the formula growing stale?NBCs prime-time focuses on a handful of sports --
swimming & diving, track & field, gymnastics, beach volleyball -- to the
virtual exclusion of all others. Its a mix of live and plausibly live, or
tape-delayed coverage that allows action to unfold as it happens. A narrative
style humanizes otherwise unknown athletes, letting viewers page through a
picture book that swimmer Ryan Murphy drew as a child or watch gymnast Aly
Raismans parents squirm in the stands.A majority of viewers are women; 55
percent through Rios first six nights. NBC assumes many arent sports fans and,
in an attention-getting comment last month, NBC chief marketing officer John
Miller said that women are less interested in the result and more interested in
the journey. Its sort of like the ultimate reality show and miniseries wrapped
into one. That struck some fans as patronizing and reflective of a poor
understanding of the audience in an era when women also make up the majority of
the U.S. Olympic team.Weve all grown up playing sports, said Joanne Gerstner,
who teaches sports journalism at Michigan State. We have kids that are playing
sports. Who are these groups of women they feel are so alien to sports that they
have to be catered to in this way? I dont know who these people are.Whiteside,
who teaches at Montclair State University in New Jersey, said she appreciates
knowing about the athletes competing. But, she said, I dont view the Olympics as
reality TV. I view it as a great sporting event.Washington Post columnist Sally
Jenkins wrote that a network would never think of cutting and pasting highlights
of a football game around childhood film of Peyton and Eli Manning on a swing
set. With its heavy packaging, NBC is living in the past, she wrote.NBC points
to its live streams as evidence that people can watch events like the gymnastics
finals live if they want. Showing the most popular sports at a time most viewers
are available is a service both to the fans and those who bought more than $1.2
billion in advertising. The way we create our storytelling and our narrative,
mixed in with incredibly compelling competition, I think is working for men,
women and children, NBC Sports Group Chairman Mark Lazarus said this week. And
thats our goal. This is a very big tent and all are welcome. We program, we
schedule, and we try to create a show around the competition thats welcoming to
all. And I think so far were finding success.NBCs Olympics operation is a deeply
experienced and talented team. Gary Zenkel, in his 11th Olympics, runs the
business operations. Jim Bell, former Today show producer, is the top producer.
His first NBC job out of college was working at the Barcelona Olympics. Both
count former NBC Sports President Dick Ebersol as a mentor; Ebersol himself was
a protege of ABCs Roone Arledge and the up-close-and-personal Olympics coverage
of generations ago.Three of the 27 executives profiled on the NBC Olympics press
website are women. The teams experience, and the rarity of any TV programs
reaching such a huge audience in todays fragmented world, makes it unlikely NBC
will blow up the formula for prime-time to try something completely new.Given
the rapid change in the way people watch TV in an on-demand world -- and a 2020
Olympics in Tokyo, where there will likely be less live competition to show on
prime-time in the United States -- NBC may have to consider changes more quickly
than it expects, said Andy Billings, a University of Alabama sports media
professor and author of Olympic Media: Inside the Biggest Show on Television. And
what would that new formula be? Thats the tough question. One idea would be a
combination of live events with SportsCenter-like highlights and interviews,
taking in a far greater range of Olympic sports. I think the audience would be
even greater, Whiteside said.---Follow David Bauder at twitter.com/dbauder. His

India women 121 for 5 (Raj 73*, Amin 2-24) beat Pakistan women 104 for 6 (Maroof
25, Bisht 2-22) by 17 runsScorecard Indias dominance in the womens Asia Cup
extended as they sealed their sixth title in as many editions with a 17-run win
over Pakistan in Bangkok.
Nike Air Force 1 Cheap China . It was the
second consecutive time India had beaten Pakistan in an Asia Cup final, having
done so in 2012-13 as well. The win also ensured India remained unbeaten in this
years tournament, which was being played in the T20 format for the second
time.It was Mithali Raj who set up the win, scoring an unbeaten 73 after India
opted to bat and taking them to 121 for 5. The bowlers then sent down economical
spells to choke Pakistan in the chase, restricting them to 104 for 6.Raj
dominated almost every partnership she featured in. She started off by putting
on 24 for the first wicket with Smriti Mandhana, who contributed just 6. After
her dismissal, it was the turn of Sabbhineni Meghana to play second fiddle as
she made 9 in a second-wicket stand of 44. Veda Krishnamurthy and Harmanpreet
Kaur, the India captain, were also sent back for single-digit scores, before
Jhulan Goswamis late cameo lifted India. Goswami pinged two sixes on her way to
a 10-ball 17 before perishing off the penultimate ball of the innings. Raj had
struck seven fours and a six in her 65-ball knock.Left-arm spinner Anam Amin
topped the wickets column with 2 for 24 in four overs, while Sana Mir and Sadia
Yousuf were economical in their respective quotas and took a wicket
apiece.Pakistan scored at nearly a run a ball during the first half of the
chase, but lost three wickets. Goswami had Ayesha Zafar bowled in the fifth over
before Asmavia Iqbal fell in similar fashion in the next over, sent down by
Shikha Pandey. Javeria Khan added 28 with captain Bismah Maroof, but could not
make her start count as she was snuffed out by Ekta Bisht, the left-arm spinner,
and Pakistan became 56 for 3. That third-wicket stand was the highest Pakistan
could manage as regular wickets stalled them. Nida Dar and Mir made identical
scores of 12 not out in late resistance, but both were kept quiet - neither
scored a single boundary - as Pakistan fell short.Indias bowlers shared the
wickets around. Bisht, who opened the bowling, took 2 for 22. Anuja Patil,
Goswami, Pandey and Preeti Bose took a wicket apiece.

DALLAS -- Texas Rangers slugger Josh Hamilton freely bent his left leg back and
forth without feeling any pain seven weeks after extensive surgery on his knee.
Air Jordan 4 For
Sale Cheap .While still a long time from getting back on the field,
Hamilton said Thursday that he expects to be fully healthy and ready when the
Rangers get to spring training in Arizona before next season.Im just really
excited that I feel likes it better, I feel like its fixed, Hamilton said. Now
the only thing is taking my time, strengthen it up and be ready for next
year.During surgery June 8 in Houston, Hamiltons anterior cruciate ligament was
reconstructed. Dr. Walt Lowe also repaired meniscus and lateral cartilage in the
knee. That was Hamiltons third surgery on the knee since September, along with
cortisone shots and a stem cell and a platelet-rich plasma injection during
spring training that may have actually led to more damage. When Hamilton went for
a recent checkup, he told the doctor he felt good and then asked how the knee
looked. The doctors response was unusually good, and when Hamilton asked what
that meant, the doctor told him that at five weeks he was already at the point
it took most patients 3 1/2 months to get to in recovery. But that also came
with a reminder. He said the most important thing ... I know it feels good but at
the same time youve still got some healing to do, so we really need to focus on
that and going through the process of rehabilitation in the right matter, said
Hamilton, who could start jogging again in about a week. Ive got plenty of time
to not have to speed it up.In his first appearance for the Rangers since his
surgery, Hamilton took part in a ceremony at the Texas Rangers MLB Urban Academy
in West Dallas where a field has been named in his honor after contributing to
the project.Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre was also there after making a
contribution toward a major league-size turf field for an indoor facility that
will be built on the 17-acre site. Beltres No. 29 will be inscribed in the
turf.Hamilton was a five-time All-Star and the 2010 AL MVP in his five seasons
with the Rangers from 2008-12. He left in free agency and signed a $125 million,
five-year contract with the AL West rival Los Angeles Angels. The Angels traded
Hamilton back to Texas last year when he was coming back from shoulder surgery,
and agreed to pay the Rangers for all of his $24 million salary this season and
$22 million of the $24 million the outfielder is due in 2017, the last year of
that contract. Hamilton played only 50 games last season, hitting .253 with
eight homers and 25 RBI.When Hamilton is removed from the 60-day disabled list
after this season, he knows it is possible that Texas could use his roster spot
for another player. That would mean the 35-year-old outfielder would have to
report to spring training with the Rangers on a non-roster deal.I feel confident
that when Im healthy, really healthy, Im just as good as anybody in the game,
and I still believe that, Hamilton said. I dont expect anything as far as like
`Oh yeah, here you go, heres your spot, or anything like that. I expect to go
out there and play. If I have to win a spot, wherever that is, thats fine with
me. Ill just be happy to be back out there and be pain free and playing again.

third-straight pole position at the Melbourne circuit might have been a
predictable result but Whincup said the forecast big wet meant Sunday wouldnt be
straightforward. Its going to be all over the place, he said. Its going to be a
matter of having the right tyres on at the right time, having the right set-up
for the conditions.Everyones going to take a guess on what part of the race its
going to be. Whoever takes the best guess will be in the best spot. The weather
bureau is predicting up to 10mm of rain in Melbourne on race day, with most to
fall before the start time of 1:15pm.That has Dumbrell and Garth Tander, who
will join the Red Bull driver on the front row, at odds over the best place to

across. The inside will probably be wet, he said.Dumbrell suggested an advantage
might not materialise. The tracks quite abrasive ... it might be a little bit
dirty on the inside but, with wet weather coming, its probably going to
neutralise the whole track, he said.Rule changes add to the intrigue. Now that
theyve taken out the four-stop minimum mandatory component of the strategy, I
think youll see some variation of the teams over three or four stops, he
said.Throw the weather in as well and itll be a very interesting day
tomorrow.Scott McLaughlin, whose Volvo will start from third place, says there
is just one factor that has him well poised for the endurance race.Im a Kiwi - I

TROON, Scotland -- The Latest on the British Open (all times local):---7 p.
Air Max Tavas
Mens .m.Phil Mickelson is heartbroken, even after one of the
greatest rounds in major championship history.Lefty shot an 8-under 63 in the
opening round of the British Open on Thursday, but hell long remember the
lipped-out putt at the 18th hole that cost him a chance at history.Mickelson
couldve become the first player to shoot 62 at a major championship. Instead, he
joins 25 other players whove managed a 63.Mickelson puts it this way: All those
highlights and I feel like crying. Indeed, his 16-foot putt looked like it was
right in the cup with a foot to do, only to veer off to the right, catch the
edge of the cup, and stay out.The 46-year-old American knows these sorts of
chances dont come along very often. At his age, especially, the odds are against
Mickelson ever coming that close again. Thats why he describes it as
heartbreaking.---6:45 p.m.Chris Wood of England has withdrawn from the British
Open because of a recurrence of a neck injury.Wood withdrew after the 12th hole
of his first round. He was 3 over par.---6:20 p.m.Phil Mickelson has become the
26th player in major championship history to shoot a 63.And he had reason to be
disappointed. His 16-foot birdie putt on the final hole at Royal Troon caught the
right lip and rode the edge of the cup without dropping. Mickelson stooped over
and grabbed his knees in disbelief. It was the 28th round of 63 in the majors --
Greg Norman and Vijay Singh have done it twice -- and the ninth at the British
Open. As a small consolation, Mickelson has the course record at Royal Troon.
And he likely will have the lead.---5 p.m.Americans occupy seven of the top
eight spots on the leaderboard at Royal Troon, not surprising because they have
won the British Open the last six times on this links. One name stands out,
however.Phil Mickelson joined Patrick Reed at 5-under par with a long birdie
putt on the 10th hole, and he remains bogey-free through 12 holes. Mickelson
hasnt won since he captured the claret jug at Muirfield three years ago. Some of
the other Americans: Billy Horschel and Tony Finau both finished at 67 and were
one shot behind, along with Justin Thomas and Steve Stricker. And not to be
overlooked is Zach Johnson, the defending champion, who was 4 under through 10
holes.---3:30 p.m.Steve Stricker was nervous when he teed off at Royal Troon,
and it showed. He had to scramble for par on the first hole and took bogey on
the next hole. But the 49-year-old American settled down and shot 67, one shot
off the lead.So why the nerves? Stricker said maybe it was because its been a
while since he played in a major. This is his first major since the PGA
Championship last year, and his first British Open since 2012.And it might be
his last major. He currently is not eligible for the PGA Championship. Stricker
says his agent, brother-in-law Mario Tiziani, has been asking him if Stricker
wants to request an exemption. Stricker says he wont do it. He wants to earn
it.This is the final event to qualify, and a top 10 might be enough to get
in.---2:30 p.m.Three-quarters of golfs Big Four are back in the clubhouse on the
first day at Royal Troon -- and Rory McIlroy has fared better than Jordan Spieth
and Jason Day.McIlroy, who won the British Open in 2014 and missed the defense
of the claret jug last year because of injury, shot a 2-under 69 and was three
strokes off early leader Patrick Reed.Spieth bogeyed the last hole after an
errant tee shot and had an even-par 71, while top-ranked Day shot 73.The other
member of the Big Four is U.S. Open champion Dustin Johnson, who had an
afternoon start. He bogeyed the first hole after hitting his driver a long way
right.---1 p.m.Americans are impressing once again at a British Open at Royal
Troon. The last six Open champions at Troon have come from the United States, and
Patrick Reed and Justin Thomas are extending the countrys dominance after
shooting the best two early rounds Thursday.Reed eagled the par-4 third, had
three birdies in the following four holes, and picked up another shot at the
last for a 5-under 66 and the early clubhouse lead.Thomas birdied his first four
holes and recovered from a double-bogey 6 at No. 15 by also making a birdie at
No. 18 for a 67.Another American, Bubba Watson, was alongside Reed and Thomas
atop the leaderboard until he triple-bogeyed No. 8 -- the testing par-3
nicknamed the Postage Stamp -- and then made bogey at Nos. 10 and 11. He is
level par through 13 holes.Rory McIlroy is 4 under through 12 holes on his first
round at the British Open since lifting the claret jug in 2014. He missed last
years tournament because of injury.---12:30 p.m.Louis Oosthuizen has made the
first hole-in-one at the British Open. The 2010 champion from South Africa aced
the par-3 No. 14 from 167 yards, his ball pitching in front of the hole and
curling into the cup. He threw his arms up in celebration for what was his
second hole-in-one at a major this year, after acing the 16th in the final round
of the Masters.---11:45 a.m.With his ball buried and up against the face of a
pot bunker, Colin Montgomerie feared the worst after just two shots of his first
round at the British Open.Montgomerie was given the honor of hitting the first
tee shot at Royal Troon, his home club, in what likely will be his last Open. It
was a proud moment for the 53-year-old Scotsman but things quickly turned
sour. His second shot landed in him in such trouble that it took two shots to get
out of the bunker. An up-and-down later, Monty was walking off with a
double-bogey 6 from one of the easiest holes at Troon. No wonder Montgomerie was
happy to finish with an even-par 71. He says Im very proud of myself for hanging
on in there. It would have been easy to score 78 there, simple.Montgomerie was 3
under for the front nine and 3 over for the back nine.---10:45 a.m.Colin
Montgomerie has started what could be his final British Open with an even-par 71
at Royal Troon. The 53-year-old Scotsman was given the honor of hitting the
opening tee shot at his home club Thursday, and he was greeted with a packed
grandstand on a sunny morning.Montgomerie took a double-bogey at the first hole,
but birdied five of the next eight to make the turn with a 3-under 33. He
couldnt keep it going, settling for three bogeys on the tougher inward nine to
fall off the leaderboard.Bubba Watson, Justin Thomas and Patrick Reed are tied
for the lead at 4 under.---10:15 a.m.Its a morning for going low at Royal Troon.
Justin Thomas and Patrick Reed are leading the way.The Americans took advantage
of the sunny weather Thursday to shoot 5-under 31 on the front nine at the
British Open. That puts them a couple of strokes ahead of Kevin Chappell and
Jimmy Walker.Given the conditions, its not surprising there are so many red
numbers on the board. But the scores figure to rise during the day as the wind
picks up. Also, the front nine at Troon is much easier that than the return leg,
so its imperative to put up a low score early in the round.Colin Montgomerie
found that out. Given the honor of hitting the first stroke of the tournament at
his home club, he made the turn with a 3-under 33 even after opening with a
double-bogey. Alas, Monty couldnt keep it going. Hes back to even par with two
holes to play after three bogeys.---8:30 a.m.Colin Montgomerie has recovered
brilliantly from his double bogey to start the British Open. The 53-year-old
Scot, playing in perhaps his last Open, caught a buried lie in pot bunker and
began with a double bogey. But the scowl soon turned into a smile when
Montgomerie ran off five birdies in seven holes to make the turn at 3-under
par.Justin Thomas made his British Open debut with birdies on his opening three
holes and also was at 3 under.Luke Donald, playing alongside Montgomerie in the
first group, was at 2 under. Most encouraging of all: The lead threesome took
just under two hours to complete the front nine.---7:25 a.m.The Irish Sea was
blue from abundant sunshine. The British Open leaderboard already was filled
with red scores. With virtually no wind to start the 145th Open, the gentle
outward nine at Royal Troon was living up to its reputation as the time to get
birdies. There already were eight birdies in the first 21 holes completed, with
Sanghee Lee of South Korea making birdie on the opening two holes.Colin
Montgomerie started with a buried lie in a pot bunker on No. 1 and made double
bogey. He might want to heed his own advice. Speaking of how easy the front nine
is at Royal Troon, the Scot once famously said if a player is not under par at
the turn, he might as well keep walking to Prestwick and have lunch in the
clubhouse.Prestwick, site of the first 12 British Opens, is adjacent to Royal
Troon.---6:45 a.m.The British Open began Thursday with Colin Montgomerie hitting
the opening tee shot on the Royal Troon links where his father once was club
secretary.Montgomerie, widely considered the best player to have never won a
major, qualified at age 53 for what likely will be his last Open. The R&A
chose him to be the first player to hit a shot on a gorgeous morning along the
Irish Sea.There wasnt an empty seat in the grandstand next to the first tee,
where the silver claret jug was on a podium. Five dogs were on the beach. There
was no wind, allowing the early starters to take aim at one of the shorter
courses on the Open rotation. Montgomerie teed off with Marc Leishman and Luke
Donald.

http://www.bestairmaxtavas.com/ . Hey!" The
lower tier of the School End of Queens Park Rangers Loftus Road was packed solid
with a very festive-sounding Chelsea choral section in this particular part of
South Africa Road London, W12. The Colorado Avalanche were rather quiet on the
player front this offseason, but made major headlines with a late coaching
change.Patrick Roys unexpected resignation in August forced the Avs into the
kind of coaching search no team should ever desire -- the one that comes after
most of the top names had been hired. But GM Joe Sakic took a gamble he believes
will pay off in elevating unheralded Jared Bednar from the minors, where he led
his teams to championships both in the AHL and ECHL.The most constant and
stinging criticism of Roys coaching style was that the Avs bucked the trend of
puck-possession systems that have garnered much success around the league,
instead playing a counterattack game that was exciting at times, but also in the
long run led to too much time without the puck. Bednar promises to address that
this season and change the way the Avs play with the puck.Colorado was in the
playoff race last season until fading late, losing eight of its last 10 games,
missing the postseason for the second straight year after the surprising Central
Division title win in 2013-14, Roys first season behind the bench. The Avs return
with largely the same core of players. Theyve got high-end offensive talent led
by Matt Duchene and Nathan MacKinnon, but have struggled mightily defensively.
Theyve got to be better there.Best new facesThe Avs acquired defensemen Fedor
Tyutin and Patrick Wiercioch to help bolster the blue line, also adding forwards
Joe Colborne, Rocco Grimaldi and Ben Smith. Gabriel Bourque and Rene Bourque
were signed to tryout contracts. The 6-foot-5, 202-pound Wiercioch gets a second
lease on life in Colorado after wearing out the patience of the Ottawa Senators.
He had promising moments during his first few years but frustrated the Sens with
his lack of consistency. Does a fresh start in Colorado help the 26-year-old
meet his potential?Colborne, also 26, put up career highs of 19 goals and 44
points last season. The 6-foot-5 center, however, was let go by the Calgary
Flames, who had to preserve salary-cap space. Perhaps a sneaky signing here by
the Avs.All in all, though, nothing earth-shattering as far as player
additions. As far as a newcomer to the NHL lineup, however, exciting things are
ahead from forward Mikko Rantanen, the 10th overall pick in the 2015 draft. He
has the potential to get into the Calder Trophy conversation. The most important
new face, though, is behind the bench in Bednar, who makes his NHL debut after
cutting his teeth for years in the minors.Biggest uunknownsHow will Bednar fare?
He wants to play a puck-pressure game and obviously tighten up defensively, all
the things you want to hear if youre an Avs fan.
Air Max
Tavas. But how will the players respond to a largely unknown
coach? Is Nikita Zadorov ready to make a step this season? That would be a boon
to the blue-line if the 6-foot-5 Russian turned in an impact season. Hes got the
talent to be a two-way guy, but needs to show more consistency.Which Semyon
Varlamov shows up this season? The Russian goalie has regressed two straight
years since putting up a career-best .927 save percentage in 2013-14 in helping
lead the Avs to that Central title. He brilliantly masked a lot of Colorados
defensive issues that season. But since then, that save percentage has dipped to
.921 in 2014-15 and then just .914 last season (to go along with a 2.81
goals-against average). Now, Varlamov could certainly use better defensive play
in front of him, no question. But its the chicken and the egg here. If hes
better this season, everything else flows from there. His backup, Calvin Pickard,
has potential to be a No. 1. So the Avs look pretty darn solid in goal if
Varlamov bounces back.Sure thingsDuchene, MacKinnon and defenseman Tyson Barrie
are the offensive dynamos, while captain Gabriel Landeskogs consistent two-way
game forms the core of Colorados go-to arsenal. Landeskog and Swedish countryman
Carl Soderberg formed a steady pairing up front last season.MacKinnon was
outstanding in the World Cup of Hockey for Team North America, while Duchene
shined in a Team Canada win over Team USA. Look for both offensive stars to
carry that over into strong starts. It should be noted that Duchene played
through a separated shoulder, which he suffered before the tournament officially
started but he didnt miss a game and the worse of it is behind him, he
said.PredictionI think the Avs will do a better job of protecting the puck with
Bednar, but some of the same concerns remain on defense. How Varlamov bounces
back will have a huge bearing on things. Theyre in a crazy division, where a
team such as the Winnipeg Jets is going to be better while contenders the Dallas
Stars, Chicago Blackhawks, St. Louis Blues and improved Nashville Predators
arent going away. I just cant see Colorado being any better than those teams.
They will be competitive but miss out by a few points. Seventh in the Central.

DENVER -- At long last, Brian Shaw is getting his first chance to coach an NBA
team.

Lakers and Phil Jackson pupil has agreed to succeed George Karl as coach of the
Denver Nuggets, a person familiar with the negotiations told The Associated
Press. The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity Monday night because
the deal hadnt been officially announced. Still, it was the buzz of the
basketball world. "I think the Nuggets are going to benefit from his tenure,"
Jackson tweeted. "So great to see Brian Shaw rewarded with this long overdue
opportunity," Pacers coach Frank Vogel told The AP in a text. "Congrats to Brian
and the Nuggets. Denver just got one of the best head coaches this league will
see for years to come." The Denver Post first announced the agreement with Shaw,
the Indiana Pacers assistant who told the newspaper hes been "prepared by the
best of the best" for his first NBA head coaching job, adding "I feel like Ive
waited and paid my dues." Shaw is a longtime assistant who has interviewed about
a dozen times for head coaching positions but kept coming up short until Monday.
He beat out Lionel Hollins, the former Memphis Grizzlies coach. The Nuggets
called a news conference for Tuesday afternoon, where team president Josh
Kroenke and newly hired general manager Tim Connelly will introduce their new
coach. Shaw replaces Karl, who was ousted June 6 just weeks after winning the
leagues Coach of the Year award. Shaw inherits a young team loaded with talent
that won a franchise-record 57 games but lost Danilo Gallinari to a knee injury
down the stretch and bowed out in the first round of the playoffs for the ninth
time in 10 years. Gallinari recently underwent surgery and is expected back in
December. The Nuggets have been a state of flux all summer after they were
knocked off by the Golden State Warriors in six games in the first round of the
playoffs. First, Masai Ujiri, who engineered the win-win trade of
Carmelo Anthony to the New York Knicks, left the Nuggets front office for the GM
job in Toronto. Ujiri was the leagues Executive of the Year. Less than a week
later, Kroenke fired Karl. Ujiris right-hand man, Pete DAllesandro, then took
the Sacramento Kings GM job and took Denver executive Mike Bratz with him. Also,
the Nuggets top perimeter defender, Andre Iguodala, decided to opt out of the
final year of his contract to become an unrestricted free agent, although he
could return to Denver on a five-year deal while the most he could get elsewhere
is a four-year contract. Shaw, 47, owns five NBA championship rings as a player
and assistant coach. A first-round draft pick by the Boston Celtics in 1988,
Shaw played for eight teams in his 14 NBA seasons. As Vogels top assistant, Shaw
drew praise for his work with rising star Paul George last season. The Pacers
forward was an All-Star and helped lead Indiana to the Eastern Conference
finals, where they took the eventual champion Miami Heat to seven games.
Although he has deep roots with the triangle offence that Jackson featured with
the Chicago Bulls and the Lakers, Shaw told the Denver Post he wont use that
system with the Nuggets, who thrived in a fast-paced, free-flowing system under
Karl. Shaw played at St. Marys and UC Santa Barbara before an NBA career that
lasted from 1988 to 2003. He was a member of the Lakers three championship teams
in the early 2000s and Jackson hired him as an assistant after he retired. He
won two more titles with L.A. as an assistant coach and when Jackson retired
from the Lakers in 2011, Kobe Bryant voiced his support for Shaw becoming
Jacksons successor, but he was passed over for that promotion.

the glass and back into his hands. With 1:14 to go in overtime, Davis sixth
block also became his 17th rebound. That, along with his 32 points -- which tied
a career high -- proved too much for Denver to overcome, and the Pelicans held
on for their third straight victory, 111-107 on Sunday night.

State Warriors coach Mark Jackson asked his players a simple question during
Fridays morning shootaround: How many of them had ever been on a team 14 games
over . The NCAA volleyball championship will be decided in Big Ten territory --
in Columbus, Ohio. And it might be like a mini-Big Ten tournament.Of course,
well have to see how it all plays out, but the NCAAs top-10 reveal on Wednesday
night was -- no surprise -- a strong showing for the conference that has
produced eight of the past 10 NCAA champions.Nebraska, Minnesota and Wisconsin
were the top three teams in the NCAAs rankings, just as they are in this weeks
American Volleyball Coaches Association poll. The Huskers won the national
championship last year, and the Gophers also made the final four. The NCAA list
diverges just a bit from the AVCA poll after those three. But there is only one
team -- seven-time champ Penn State -- that is ranked in the top 10 of the AVCA
poll but was not on thhe NCAAs list.

rest of that shaped up: 4. Texas, 5. San Diego, 6. Kansas, 7. Stanford, 8. North
Carolina, 9. Florida, 10. Washington. The NCAA opted to release the current top
10 this week to build excitement for the upcoming NCAA tournament, but a lot
could still change between now and then. The NCAA will reveal the 64-team bracket
at 9 p.m. ET on Nov. 27 (ESPNU). Early rounds (Dec. 1-3) and the regional semis
and final (Dec. 10-11) will be played at campus sites. The national semifinals
are at 7 and 9:30 p.m. ET on Dec. 15, and the final is at 9 p.m. Dec. 17 at
